Series Aims
  • To understand that everyone needs to hear the gospel so that they can trust in Jesus and be saved.
  • To understand that people cannot hear the gospel if no-one goes to tell them.
  • To understand that we can help to share the gospel either by going ourselves or by supporting and praying for others to go.
Series Overview
This series (Part 4) considers the nature of God's rescue mission and the way in which his people can share in this work. It examines the role that both God and man play in bringing others to know and love Jesus:
  • God’s Work – in terms of salvation God alone is able to bring sinners to repentance and faith (week 1). It was always his plan to send his Son to die for us so that anyone who believes might be saved (weeks 1, 2 and 3). We can contribute nothing to our own rescue and we cannot change the hearts of others (weeks 2 and 3).
  • Our Work – all that we must do to be saved is call on the name of Jesus and believe (week 3). However, God chooses to involve us in his plan to save others – we must go to them and tell them the good news about Jesus, just as Paul did (weeks 1, 3 and 4). Even if we cannot go ourselves, there are many ways in which we can and must support and facilitate gospel work (week 4).
These four passages in Romans are a wonderful reminder of God's grace to us through Jesus, but they are also an encouragement to share this good news with others. God's mission to save a people for himself is also our mission and we must make it a priority.
